The firm behind the counsel.

Fourteen years, one office, one guiding idea: judgment travels further than volume.

Wilburn Griffin, Founder of Grace & Taylor Advisory
Founder's Letter

A note from Wilburn Griffin.

I started Grace & Taylor in 2011 with a folding desk on the third floor of the Rockefeller Building and the belief that the mid-market — the manufacturers, hospitals, community banks, and family businesses that hold this region together — deserved advisory counsel of the caliber that only the Fortune 500 seemed able to buy.

Fourteen years later, we are still a small firm on purpose. When you engage us, you engage me. I read every report before it leaves. I sit in every board briefing. And I answer the phone at (216) 832-6065 when it rings, because that is what our clients pay for.

Discretion is our default. Long relationships are our measure of success. We would be honored to earn yours.

— Wilburn Griffin, Founder

Our Principles

Five ideas we do not compromise on.

I

One Voice

The advisor who scopes your engagement is the advisor who delivers it. Full stop.

II

Written Down

Verbal counsel evaporates. Every recommendation is documented, signed, and delivered on paper.

III

No Hourly Games

Fees are quoted in advance for defined work. We do not bill for phone calls.

IV

Discretion First

Client names never appear on our website. What is said in the room stays in the room.

V

We Say No

If an engagement isn't a fit, we say so. We keep a short list of specialists we trust and we make the referral without charge.

VI

Long Horizons

We measure success in decades of relationship, not billable hours this quarter.

VII

Plain English

If we cannot explain a recommendation to your operations director, we have not thought it through.

VIII

Regional Roots

We live here. Our children go to school here. The businesses we advise are our neighbors.

Timeline

A fourteen-year quiet build.

2011

Founded in Cleveland

Wilburn Griffin opens the practice on Superior Avenue with a single engagement — a risk framework for a family-held industrial supplier.

2014

First Healthcare Client

A regional hospital network engages the firm to design a HIPAA compliance program, beginning a practice area that now spans six health systems.

2017

Corporate Security Practice

In response to a rash of executive-targeted incidents in the region, we formalize a corporate security offering covering physical, digital, and insider threat surfaces.

2020

Pandemic Continuity Work

Over eleven months, we help twenty-two regional employers rewrite business-continuity plans that had, until then, existed only on paper.

2023

Columbus & Pittsburgh Reach

Advisory relationships in Columbus and Pittsburgh cross a third of the book of business, though the office remains in Cleveland.

2026

Fifteenth Year Approaching

Still one office. Still one voice. Still, we hope, worth the phone call.

Coffee first. Contracts later.

The best engagements begin with an unhurried conversation.
